First Sunday Of Advent...

It is the first Sunday of Advent and Pastor Shawn taught the children about the Light Of The World - Jesus.

Jordan comes up for the children's sermon, but settles in the other side. The babies are so cute when they come up the first time.

Phyllis & Betsy, Pastor Appreciation Day...

Today, in addition to being Pastor Appreciation Day, Phyllis and Betsy came to visit, and helped out with the Children's Sermon. The kids loved it, and Betsy even sang a song, Faith, Hope & Love.

Betsy tells the children about faith, hope and love.

Ariana was willing to come up, but only wanted to watch Betsy from afar.

The ladies, Bev, Diana, Carol, Catherine and Pam decorated the community room for our potluck after church services. It was a gorgeous, autumn theme and was beautiful. The food was great - we have a lot of good cooks in our congregation!

Our worship leader, Lora, gave the congregation a chance to tell our pastor, Shawn Wallace, how much we appreciated him and his family. Many people stood up to tell how Pastor Shawn and his family helped them in some way. There were a lot of tears and thank yous - and tons of Christian love flowing today.

Brother Kent Bourland preached the sermon, following the theme of faith, hope, and love. He gave us a little quote of encouragement:

Faith is our past, hope is our present, and love is our eternity.

And with Jesus, all things are possible. God Bless our church family, and may we continue to grow in love.

Movie Night - Flywheel

Don't miss movie night at the parsonage Saturday Septemeber 17, 6-9 PM.

Jay Austin wants to sell used cars in the worst way ... and that's exactly how he does business at his dealership. Promising much more than he can ever deliver, he'll do whatever it takes to sell a car. His manipulative ways permeate all of his relationships—even his wife and son know they can't trust him.

But as Jay works on restoring a classic convertible, he begins to see that God is working on restoring him as well. Coming face-to-face with the reality of how he truly conducts himself, Jay Austin begins the ride of his life as he commits to honoring God with his business, his relationships, and his life!

Show-Me Christian Youth Home

Saturday September 10 we are leaving for the annual Show-Me Christian Youth Home. This is an event for all to enjoy. There are plenty of things going on that day with a noon feast, tours and activities, a kid's Carnival and a concert by the Vintage Gospel Lad's. we are leaving the Church at 9:00 AM and coming back home around 2:00 PM. This is a great opprotunity to see where part of our missions money is going in regards to helping the families at the La Monte location.

Blessings, Shawn

The Annual Homecoming Celebration

Our guest speaker for the Homecoming Celebration was Pastor Thom Jones who's the youth pastor at Open Door Christian Fellowship. He read from Matthew 7:24-27 and spoke to us about a HOME and having the right foundation. It was a great reminder that tribulation and troubles will come but if the foundation is built on the rock of Jesus Christ, one will have a strong HOME! His supporting verses for us to ponder were Jeremiah 22:13-16 and Ephesians 2:4-9.

There was a great turnout with over 100 in attendance and of course we finished up the celebration with a fellowship meal and a wonderful reminder of what God's done and will continue to do in the lives of His Saints!

Blessings,

Pastor Shawn

Children's Sermon

The children love coming up to the front for the Children's Sermon. This week, Shawn talked about our Heavenly Father's commandments and how we, as Christians, follow Jesus's teachings. Using a sparkler, he asked the kids about rules and how they relate to life. The kids were hoping he'd light the sparkler, but alas! No go!

Shawn's patriotic tie was also a treat to see! LOL

Ariana started walking about 4 weeks ago - this was her first Sunday to walk up to the stairs for Children's Sermon. Malachi (one of our teens), brought her up, you can see his sneaker in the lower right corner of the photo.

Potluck and Concert

The potluck supper and the concert were great. Everyone enjoyed the good food, the fellowship with our Christian family and the terrific music Phil and Pam provided. Pam's testimony brought tears, but the miracle of her singing was a joy to behold. Thank God for the blessings He bestows.

Everyone settled for supper, enjoying all the good cooks who grace our congregation with some seriously delightful meals.

Phil works the crowd, he got us all singing some old favorites - How Great Though Art and Old Rugged Cross. Everyone joined in.

Sunday, June 12, 2011 - The Special...

This Sunday, the congregation was serenaded with an old gospel song, Swing Low, Sweet Chariot. Our choristers were delighted to perform and did an amazing job for God's glory and our listening pleasure. We hope to hear them again.

Church Work Party Saturday May 14, 2011

The Church Work Party was a huge success! A lot of work got done. The workers were sustained by donuts and coffee in the morning and a potluck for lunch.

The men fixed the leak in the roof, re-attached gutters, fixed holes trenched near the building by rainwater, trimmed hedges, mowed the lawn, leveled the gravel parking lot, and did outside maintenance as needed.

The Skunk Remediation Project was also a great success. Access to the opening under the front porch steps was closed off to all critters, including the skunk!

Don and Ron changed the many burnt out flourescent lightbulbs and ballasts in the community room and classrooms.

Beverly cleaned the kitchen.

Pam and Merry cleaned several classrooms and storage areas. Catherine cleaned the church van.

A hearty Thank You to all who helped.
